The joyous memories Baptist Children’s Homes (BCH) cottage parents, foster parents and adoptive parents make for boys and girls is one of the most essential ways of helping ease their past hurts. Through the support of churches and friends of BCH’s many ministries, children, special needs adults and families are experiencing an unforgettable Summertime.
The Summer season opens up opportunities for a number of firsts: first baseball game, first Vacation Bible School, first roller coaster ride, and for many children, a first time seeing the ocean. BCH operates McNeill Home, a seasonal cottage that sits along the sound at Indian Beach.
BCH’s statewide cottages and residential wilderness camps each take turns traveling with care-givers to the cottage for a week’s vacation. “There are a number of boys and girls in our care who never had a true childhood because of the circumstances they came from,” said Keith Henry, BCH Chief Operating Officer. “Allowing them opportunity to simply be children and to give them a summer filled with incredible experiences is one of our biggest blessings.”
