Hurricane Update - You Can Help!

Hurricane Update

Your prayers and concerns have meant so much to us. Thank you for being supportive of Baptist Children's Homes (BCH) and so many others who have experienced loss due to Hurricane Florence. Our prayers go out to everyone who has been impacted.

Here are our latest updates:

Children Safe as Trees Fall at Mills Home

Mills Home trees down causing power outage

BCH's children and caregivers have remained safe throughout the storm. On Sunday evening, several trees and limbs fell at Mills Home in Thomasville causing half the campus to lose power. At least two buildings were hit. Crews and volunteers are working to remove the trees and assist with clean up. Damage to the campus will be assessed in the coming days.

Kennedy Home Sustains Substantial Damage

Flood waters have finally receded at Kennedy Home in Kinston and a complete damage assessment will happen soon. What we do know is several buildings flooded including the campus gym which had to be completely renovated due to Hurricane Matthew two years ago. Because of the campus-wide power outage, all perishable food was lost in the cottages as well as in the walk-in freezer and cooler at the food locker. Power should be restored to Kennedy Home in the coming days.

BCH's Other Eastern Locations:

We are grateful that damage at Odum Home in Pembroke appears minimal. Conditions at the McNeill Home beach cottage at Indian Beach, Cameron Boys Camp in Moore County and Camp Duncan in Aberdeen are unknown at this time. Assessments will be done soon.
