BIKE FOR HOPE
Join us for our first annual Bike for Hope by sponsoring Development Director, Lewis Smith, as he rides the length of North Carolina to help the boys and girls in our state.
CYCLING TO BREAK THE CYCLE
Lewis Smith is using his love of cycling to help break the cycle of abuse, neglect and abandonment in the lives of the boys and girls served by Baptist Children’s Homes (BCH). Seventy-one-year-old Lewis, who has worked for BCH for 17 years, is undertaking a special cycling fundraiser called Bike for Hope to help meet the tremendous needs of vulnerable children in our state.

Bike for Hope takes place throughout the month of September. Lewis will ride his bike on a safe perimeter road at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord. His goal is to cycle a total of 600 miles in a series of 12, 50-mile stages throughout September. Lewis chose that distance because it is the equivalent of riding the length of the state of North Carolina. The distance Lewis is biking is a reminder of the hurting boys and girls BCH is ready to serve no matter where they are in the state.
