A $100,000 challenge gift has been issued giving BCH supporters a special opportunity to double the financial total of their gifts to Baptist Children’s Homes.
“In this lean economic climate, the challenge gift is a tremendous way to increase giving,” said BCH president Michael C. Blackwell. “Imagine making a $500 gift and knowing it will become a $1,000 contribution through the challenge opportunity. There’s no better time to give.”
Financial donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to the $100,000 challenge gift total. Blackwell said meeting the challenge is key.
“For this challenge to be collected, we must raise the additional $100,000,” he explained. “Each dollar is matched dollar for dollar.”
Supporters have until January 15, 2010 to raise the $100,000 total. Any gift given between now and then automatically goes toward the challenge gift.
Giving has been down by as much as 20% from this time last year. BCH depends on end-of-the-year giving to not only meet crucial immediate needs, but to also secure necessary funds to help children in the coming year.
“Giving is always important, but it is especially important now,” Blackwell said. “If you have already given, please consider an additional gift in honor or memory of someone special. There’s no better gift than one that makes a difference in the life of a child.”

Growing Hope is Essential!
April 21, 2009
Throughout Baptist Children’s Homes’ history, the number of supporters has grown. Children have been given the opportunity to discover hope because of the growth in the ministry’s support. It is important to give, and give sacrificially, no matter what the amount. But it is also important to grow the number of total gifts received every year. Growing Hope is increasing BCH’s number of supporters. You have the power to help!
Please help BCH grow its number of supporters through the power of your influence. Challenge and commit yourself to doing at least three of the seven tasks below:
1) Encourage three pastors/churches who have not participated in BCH’s annual offering to take an offering this year.
2) Seek five individuals who have never given to BCH before to give this year.
3) Tell three leaders in your community about BCH’s benefits to North Carolina.
4) Invite a BCH representative to speak at your church, before your business and/or to a community group this year.
5) Ask family members and friends to make a gift to BCH in your honor on your birthday and/or at Christmas.
6) Sign up 20 new Charity & Children subscribers.
7) Pray daily for the children.
Email us and let us know of your commitment to Growing Hope for Baptist Children’s Homes and the boys and girls who count on us all.

Support the Food Roundup!
January 21, 2009
Baptist Children’s Homes (BCH) boys and girls know whenever they sit down for a meal, the delicious food that fills their plates was lovingly provided by North Carolina Baptists. The annual “Food Roundup” has successfully united churches, businesses, and other friends to collect much needed food, supplies and gift cards for BCH residents.
In these challenging times, this year's Food Roundup in April is more important than ever!
This year's food drive will once again offer an opportunity for churches, businesses and organizations to help provide for the needs of BCH's boys and girls in care throughout North Carolina.
Help meet this year's goal to collect at least $350,000 in food, supplies and gift cards. Your effort counts!
Click on www.bchfamily.org/support/foodroundup to download this year's needed items list plus a variety of advertisements you can use in your newsletter or church bulletin to promote this year's food drive. These lists will also be published in upcoming editions of Charity & Children.
