Change For Children

Introducing BCH’s new “Change for Children” program. For years, people have supported Baptist Children’s Homes by collecting “Miles of Pennies.” Joining this very successful program, “Change for Children” now offers individuals and groups an additional way to help children.

Mile of Pennies

The U.S. Mint specifications for a Lincoln penny's dameter is 0.750 inches. One mile is 5,280 feet. Multiply that number by 12 inches and you get 63,360 inches per mile. 63,360 inches divided by 0.750 inches equals 84,480 pennies in one mile. So, a mile of pennies laid ede to edge is worth $844.80.

When it comes to providing care for hundreds of children who live at Baptist Children's Homes, it take everyone working together. One penny may not seem like much, but if you add another penny and then another penny and continue to multiply the pennies...you can go a long way in making a real difference. Walk for Change

Don't just stand there...feel good for a change! Organizing a Walk For Change is a fun and healthy way to support Baptist Children's Homes' boys and girls. Designate a safe walking route. the route culd be in your church parking lot, inside your gym or a safe route in your community. Recruit a team of walkers. Teams are comprised of members of your church, missions group, Sunday school class, family, and friends. All walkers recruit sponsors to pay them to walk the designated route a certain number of times. Set a goal of at least $500. Plan a Walk for Change celebration at the end of the event.

Bike for Change

Bike for Change is organized the same way as Walk for Change. Trade in your walking shoes for a bicycle and get ready to roll! Bike for Change is perfect for RAs, GAs, youth or anyone. Set your goal, secure your sponsors, designate a safe route...and have fun!
