Kinston Area Family Services

Baptist Children's Homes' Kinston Area Family Services provides emergency care, clarification/value change, continuing care, and after care services for children and families. The Kinston Area serves the following North Carolina counties: Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Craven, Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Edgecombe, Franklin, Gates, Granville, Greene, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Johnston, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, New Hanover, Northampton, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Pender, Perquimans, Pitt, Tyrrell, Vance, Wake, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Wilson.

Kennedy Home offers school age children an environment in which they can overcome personal and family problems. Kennedy Home seeks to preserve or reunify families. Baptist Children's Homes' second oldest facility is also known as the "star of the east."

Kennedy Home provides a Transitional Living program to aid older children as they prepare for life as independent adults.

Family Care, for single mothers and their children, is also offered at Kennedy Home. The transitional program provides a goal-focused living environment within a cottage setting. Family Care is specifically structured to help mothers transition to a successful, independent living situation.

Baptist Children’s Homes is licensed to provide Foster Care. Foster Care is a service providing substitute residential care for a child over a planned period when his/her family or legal custodian cannot provide care. A family foster home is a facility licensed for care and a place of residence for a family who receives as many as one, but no more than five children, for 24-hour care. Visit www.bchfostercare.org.

Britton Ministries in Ahoskie offers Family Care for single mothers and their children. Britton Ministries serves the following counties: Vance, Warren, Halifax, Northampton, Hertford, Gates, Perquimans, Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck, Chowan, Bertie, Martin, Washington, Tyrrell, Dare.

BCH operates McNeill Cottage at Indian Beach. The home provides BCH residents a place to stay so that they may experience a beach vacation with their caregivers.

02.25.2011: Richard Poteat Honored at Retirement Celebration

After 41 years of dedicated service to Kennedy Home and Baptist Children’s Homes, Richard Poteat will retire on February 28th. The Kennedy Home staff honored Richard on February 22nd with a real Eastern North Carolina BBQ & Fish Stew lunch. Several Kennedy Home retirees, along with other BCH staff, attended the celebration. 02.22.2011: Valentine's Celebrations at Kennedy Home

Jordan’s Chapel Baptist Church in Mt. Olive hosted a wonderful Valentine’s party for the Kennedy Home youth on Saturday, February 12th. Also, Kennedy Home alumnus Doris Hartley Powers and her husband, Jim, provided a Valentine's pizza party for the staff on February 14th.
