Happy Days of Summer at Oak Ranch

07.24.2009

There is something to be said for the “lazy days of summer,” but so far at Oak Ranch it’s been more like a marathon. Blessings have poured in as staff and residents spent the summer months bailing hay and planting gardens. They are now harvesting the produce and stacking the hay in preparations for the winter. Residents have enjoyed visits to the local assisted living home, campus visits from Hunt Springs Race Car Ministry, Picnic at Raven Rock with Calvary Baptist, and Pizza and Games hosted by First Baptist Church of Sanford. Also, a variety of activities have given relief from the rising heat ranging from canoe trips at Jordan Lake, challenging each resident to make it to the top at the indoor climbing wall, tubing and enjoying dinner sponsored by America’s Roadhouse, playing at Kinston Water Park, and fishing on campus at the pond and river. Ask Jeffrey sometime about that “large mouth” picture(it really isn’t a fish tale). A highlight thus far this summer is when residents and staff from Lanier and Mercer Homes of Sanford visited Oak Ranch for a day of fishing and time with the horses. The fish were jumping that day too!
