Marcie's Travels, Plays In Ensemble
09.29.2008
Marcie, a resident at Hinkle House in Winston-Salem, traveled over this past weekend to play drums in her percussion ensemble. Marcie has played the drums in this band for many years and has performed on the band's CD and with the band at a Winston-Salem coffee house on several occassions. This ensemble was formed at the Enrichment Center, which is a day program for adults with disabilities with an emphasis on artistic programming. Over the last few months, the percussion ensemble has begun to travel to promote their music as a means to see individuals with disablities in a different, more positive light. In August the percussion ensemble performed in New York City, and over this past weekend, the ensemble performed in Wilmington and Chapel Hill. Marcie is proud of her accomplishments as a recording artist and is thrilled with her new opportunities to travel.
Stegall Home Resident Sings Solo
09.17.2008
Sedrick, a resident of Stegall Home in Marshville, sang a solo for both services Sunday, September 7th at Hopewell Baptist Church. Sedrick sang "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" and ended with the "Star Spangled Banner". His joy for the Lord touched many hearts that day, and in Sedrick's famous words: "God wants to use me, and I'm going to let Him." God did just that - in a mighty way!
