Stegall Home Resident Takes Away the Gold

Developmental Disabilities Ministry Stegall Home resident David Miller competed in the Mecklenburg County Special Olympics Track and Field Events, Tuesday, April 29th. He competed in the 400M Dash, 200M Dash, and 100M Dash and took away the gold medal in all 3 events. Congratulations, David!
Hinkle House Residents' Accomplishments

Hinkle House resident Marylene received a special award at a recognition ceremony on April 22 given by Forsyth Industrial Services. Marylene was honored for completing five years as a volunteer for Crisis Control Ministry. Shortly after receiving the award, Marylene left with her friend Peggy for a vacation to Lake Lure for much needed rest. Hinkle House resident Lavonn B. began a new volunteer job at the Forsth Couty Animal Shelter on April 21. She is in charge of giving attention to the kittens, which includes playing with them and cuddling with them. Since beginning her new job, Lavonn has begun wearing t-shirts with cats on them to promote awareness for the animal shelter.
Stegall Home Benefits from Operation In As Much

The New Beginnings Class from Hopewell Baptist Church blessed the Stegall Home Family Saturday, April 19th through their missions giving with Operation In As Much. The group came and touched up paint, pressure washed the entire home, repaired loose towel bars and toilet paper holders, cleaned the outdoor furniture, and much more! We are so truly blessed! Thank you to Hopewell Baptist Church for their continued support of our home and for brightening our days!
Stegall Home Residents Attend Joy Prom

Residents from DDM's Stegall Home attended the Joy Prom at Carmel Baptist Church, Friday, April 18th. The theme was "Your Night In The Spotlight." The guys were announced coming down the red carpet, and then they were treated to shoe shines. They spent the evening dancing and enjoyed an extravagant dessert banquet along with a prom portrait of them and their dates. The night was topped off with a trip to the Waffle House (could there be any other place to go after a prom)?
Stegall Home Residents Receive Medals For Swimming

DDM Stegall Home Residents received swimming medals Saturday, April 19th, for their participation in the Special Olympics swimming sessions hosted at Wingate University. The Wingate Univeristy swim team assisted the athletes with swimming, relays, floating on noodles, and going under water to pick up rings. The day was topped off with a huge pizza party.
Two Joy Cove residents receive medals

We are happy to announce that two Joy Cove residents received medals in the Special Olympics State Competition. Justin Cordini (and the rest of his basketball team) received a gold medal. Susan Rasnick (and her cheerleading squad) received a silver medal! Way to go team. Congratulations!
