Camp's Woodsmen Complete Piedmont Trek
02.20.2008
The Woodsmen group completed a 6-day backpack trip on the Sauratown Trail which ended in Hanging Rock State Park. The group hiked 35 miles and enjoyed the views and waterfalls along the way. They did an excellent job encouraging and helping each other especially on the numerous creek crossings they encountered on the trail. The trip was in preparation for another backpack trip in the Shenandoah mountains.
A Camp Group's Visit to Fayetteville Korean Baptist Church
02.11.2008
The Trailblazers group not only had a worship experience but also a cultural experience last Sunday when they visited Korean Baptist Church in Fayetteville. The bilingual service (although mostly in Korean) was a unique experience for the group. The Trailblazers shared some songs and their testimonies during the service. The group enjoyed the church fellowship and hospitality afterwards as they joined the congregation for a Korean lunch prepared by the church members. The church visit was a memorable experience for the group as it widened their perspective and cultural awareness as well as the realization that God is not bound to a single race or language.
Mother-Son Valentine's Banquet at Camp
02.11.2008
The campers and staff decorated the chuckwagon for the annual Valentine's Banquet held last Saturday night. The campers gave their moms Valentine cards and a flower and had their pictures taken. The case managers and assistant directors served a three course dinner. The program that followed the meal consisted of a skit, games and songs that were presented by each camp group some of which were written by the group or campers. The campers and moms also shared what they appreciated about each other and also thanked the ministry of BCH for the help it gave to their families.
Camp Bids Farewell to a Group Work Supervisor
02.07.2008
Campers and staff said their goodbyes to Brian Johnson last week. Brian was a chief for three years. He then took a few months off and spent a semester in the Rockies at the National Outdoor Leadership School where he received Wilderness First Aid/Responder Certifications as well as skills to lead and teach rock climbing/rappelling, snow skiing, building a snow shelter, and canyoneering. He returned to camp and became a group work supervisor for four and a half years. As a supervisor, he did an excellent job helping chiefs and campers , and helped camp run smoothly and efficiently. Cameron will greatly miss him.
