Kennedy Home Hosts Friends of Children

05.07.2008

Approximately 325 people representing 35 churches in the Eastern area came to Kennedy Home on Saturday, May 3rd. When they descended onto their work projects, it looked like ants covering the ground. What an exciting sight! These caring people, of all ages, were so excited to be involved in the ministry; it was like a ray of sunshine, on an already beautiful sunny day. The group projects accomplished were: painting the swimming pool, mowing grass, yard and grounds work, vehicle and tractor washing, sawing up recently downed rotten trees, stocking donated food, working in the pine forest (cutting limbs), moving library books, sanding cottage furniture, and assisting with the Ferebee Cottage renovation. Madison Avenue Baptist Church of Goldsboro provided a scrumptious lunch for the volunteers, children and staff of BBQ Pork Chops, Boiled Potatoes, Green Beans and Rolls. It was quite interesting seeing and watching ourselves eating those BBQ sauce pork chops, picnic style (using our hands). Much work was accomplished, along with meeting new friends and enjoying abundant fellowship.
