Kennedy Home Hosts Gang Symposium
03.26.2008
On Tuesday, March 25th, the Kennedy Home campus hosted more than one hundred representatives from Departments of Social Services, Juvenile Justice agencies, and other child caring organizations for a Gang Symposium. Danya Perry, Field Services Specialist with NC Communities in Schools (also the son of Sandy Perry) led the workshop. The sessions included “Introduction to Gangs,” "Identifying Gangs," “Recognizing Gang Influences,” and "Gang Prevention and Intervention.” It was a very successful day, not only in training and working together with other agencies to help our youth, but a networking day with other agencies.
Pilot Baptist Church Weekend Project at Kennedy Home
03.25.2008
Pilot Baptist Church from Zebulon spent a weekend on our campus working, feeding, and leading in worship. Pilot Baptist Church has come to Kennedy Home for a weekend in March for the past three years. They come in on Friday evening, provide manual labor on Saturday morning helping with several needed projects, provide a campus-wide cookout, and lead in Sunday morning worship. The Sunday morning worship included a worship band, skits, and one of the church’s youth brought the morning message. The morning worship ended with several coming to the altar for prayer. God used the church’s ministry to move the children to reach out to Christ for help in their situations.

Eureka Christian Church of Mount Olive provided beautiful Easter baskets for the children as part of the annual Easter Communion Service conducted on Wednesday, March 19. The church’s representatives attended the service and passed out the baskets as the youth left the church. Many of the children will take the baskets with them as they leave to be with their families over the school’s spring break the following week. Thank you Eureka Christian Church!

First Baptist Church of Wilson provided the campus’ annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday afternoon, March 16th. This is the second year First Baptist has provided the egg hunt. They hid hundreds of eggs on the campus with 18 of these hidden eggs being prize winning “Golden Eggs." The children had a wonderful time hunting for the eggs and claiming the pride of finding one of the Golden Eggs. The Golden Eggs brought the holder gifts such as a new basketball, CD player, or a case of Pepsi. The church ended the afternoon with a pizza dinner for the children. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Mill Creek Baptist Church Leads Worship at Kennedy Home
03.20.2008
Kennedy Home campus had a real treat on March 9th provided by Mill Creek Baptist Church from Roseboro. Rev Guy and many from his church came to the campus on this Sunday evening and their “Daily Disciples” led in a worship experience for our children. The worship experience included singing, puppets, music interpretations, and skits. The group was well rehearsed and it was an inspiring evening. The church also brought Easter baskets for the children on campus. This church, under the leadership of Ms. Chris Sessoms has provided Easter baskets for 5+ years. Kennedy Home is blessed to have churches, such as Mill Creek Baptist, with long-term commitments to our ministry.
