Mills Homecoming Brings Past and Present Together

08.11.2008

On Saturday, August 2, all the Mills Home residents enjoyed a time of “discussing the old days” with the alumni during the annual Homecoming. Our residents enjoyed hearing how things were many years ago, but also realized what they had in common with the former residents. On Saturday afternoon, we enjoyed watermelon together under the shade trees at the gym. Some tackled the watermelon with their mouth only and some preferred cutting it piece by piece with a knife and topping it with salt. We had a very large turnout on Sunday for worship. The church was full. The church’s newly refurbished fellowship hall, parlor, choir room and upstairs were dedicated as well as the newly renovated Huffman Cottage which houses BCH's transitional living service. The current Huffman ladies were recognized along with all the former Huffman female residents. Each was presented with a red sash to wear. The Alumni Association prepared our lunch for us this year. A delicious lunch of hamburgers and hotdogs were served with our traditional ice cream for dessert. A good time was had by all that participated.
