Mills Home Friends of Children Workday
05.12.2010
Mills Home Friends of Children workday was May 1st. More than 400 volunteers showed up to help with a long list of jobs including removing shrubbery; landscaping, deep cleaning all cottages and other office buildings; helping a cottage relocate to another cottage; washing agency vehicles; cleaning parking lots; painting bathrooms at the picnic shelter. At 11:30 everyone joined together for a lunch of grilled hot dogs and all the trimmings. Resident Paulina gave her testimony and sang for the group. Blackwell Cottage residents also sang for the volunteers. Certificates of appreciation were given to all church groups. According to the comments made as they left for the day, the majority of volunteers are ready to come back in September! It was a good day for our staff and residents to see how much they are loved and cared about by others.
Mills Home Family and Friends Day
05.12.2010
Mills Home staff and residents held their spring "Family and Friends Day" on April 17th. Family and friends gathered at the gym for a game of basketball between staff members and residents. Residential manager Wycessa Ransom coached the residents' team and residential supervisor Rusty Bunker coached the staff. The residents enjoyed being able to show their athletic ability as they won the game! A great time was had by all. Lunch was grilled hot dogs with all the trimmings. Afterwards, a talent show was held at the church. Mills Home has a lot of hidden talent! It was great to see parents and their children performing together. After the program, everyone enjoyed ice cream from Uncle Al’s Ice Cream truck. It was a good day for our children and their families.
