Loretta Martin Retires from Mills Home
03.31.2008
After 26 years of dedication to the ministry of helping hurting children and healing broken families, Loretta Martin decided to retire from her position as Arts and Craft Coordinator for Mills Home. A reception was held for Loretta on March 25 for her to say her farewells to staff members and residents. It was a family affair for Loretta and during her tenure at Mills Home. Her husband Jim Martin came to Mills Home first as the recreational coordinator. Later, her son Marty was employed as a house parent and, after graduating from college, became a social worker for Mills Home. Her son Jamie spent several summers as a lifeguard at the Mills Home pool and also spent a summer as the recreational coordinator at McNeill Cottage. Loretta had a positive effect on every child that she came in contact with. She saw talent in every child and was able to bring this out. She will truly be missed by residents and staff. Loretta is planning to spend her leisure time taking care of her grandson, Logan. We will miss Loretta but wish her well on her new endeavors.
Mills Home Resident Makes History
03.24.2008
A resident at Johnson Cottage made school history by scoring the very first goal for the newly formed soccer team at her school. Even though the team did not win the game, they were just as excited by getting their first goal ever! Mills Home has six residents playing on the team. They enjoy playing the game, learning good sportsmanship and building self esteem. When the games are at home, the whole campus goes to cheer them on. We are very proud of our residents for taking leadership roles in sports and other areas.
Congratulations to Marisa Cahal
03.04.2008
Marisa Cahal has been selected as Mills Home Excellence in Direct Sevice Award winner. She is a very deserving winner. The good news doesn’t stop here. Marisa has been selected from all the winners across BCH to go to our state CFSA conference in New Bern. During this meeting, a statewide Excellence in Direct Service winner will be selected from other CFSA child care agencies in North Carolina. Let’s wish her well.
