Care House Mothers and Babies Receive Generous Visits
12.10.2008
The Lenoir Area has been blessed with a multitude of great churches in our area who lovingly give to the girls and babies at Care House. A large group of senior ladies came and organized a party for the girls. They brought new rocker/gliders for all the rooms. They brought a lot of food including chicken nuggets, pizza, chips and some of the most delicious home made cakes we ever tasted. In addition, they brought each girl and baby everything from their wish lists. It's been some time since the girls filled out their gift lists. They were so surpised to receive things they really wanted. We witnessed many tears of joy when they started opening up their gifts. More than once I heard said, "Oh, it's just what I wanted!" Girls received clothes, shoes, curling irons, flat irons, make up, and items for their hope chest. The babies received clothes, toys, shoes, teething rings and noise makers of all kinds. One girl broke down as she opened a car seat for her daughter that was exactly the one she had admired at Walmart during the summer and could not afford. She cried like a baby. The seniors were great with the babies. They fed each one and held them as the mothers opened presents. The girls felt very comfortable with them. They were like everyone's Grandmothers. It was a special day and the girls thanked them for coming and for blessing them with such a special day and so many wonderful gifts. They truly appreciated the ladies efforts. Another group came last week from Hickory. They call themselves "The Hickory Moms." They also had lists and filled each girls' lap with a mountain of goodies. They brought snacks and sweets and sodas for them as well. They took a tour of the house and stayed for quite a while. They were a little younger than the other group so the girls really let down and visited with them. They asked questions and shared a lot about themselves which was a nice surprise We asked both groups to please come back to see us and they said they would. We made sure "thank you" cards went out the next day to each group.
