Care House Celebrates 20 Years

Today, Care House celebrates 20 years of serving young mothers and their babies as a part of Baptist Children's Homes' statewide network of ministry. Care House admitted its first resident and baby on August 18, 1989. Today, program director Donna Lail and her staff have served 215 girls and babies. There is an odd number because Care House's first pregnant resident has recently been admitted. Her baby is due in December. The staff enjoy spending time with the babies, but most importantly, they excel at being role models and teachers for the young mothers. A five star day care in located at Care House so the babies are well taken care of while the mothers attend school and work. When the girls and their babies leave, they have the knowledge and resources to live as independent adults and to be responsible parents. Congratulations to Care House for 20 years of great and needed service! And a special thank you to Donna Lail who has been an important part of Care House for each of those 20 years.
