One Voice Youth Group Visits Broyhill
07.16.2008
One Voice Youth Group came to Broyhill on July 15 to perform for Broyhill Home and Haywood Mountain Home youth and staff. To start the evening's events, we had a hot dog supper with all the fixings. After supper the group performed many songs and skits that they had prepared especially for us. At the end of the performance the youth pastor gave a devotion with invitational. Everyone enjoyed the evening and we thank them so much for including Broyhill in this special event.
Special Treat for Broyhill and Haywood Mountain Homes
07.16.2008
Bethel Retreat Group from Haywood County treated staff and children from Broyhill Home and Haywood Mountain Home to a fun time on Saturday, July 12th. They purchased tickets for everyone to go to Ghost Town in the Sky! Everyone met at the Ghost Town parking lot at 9:45 that morning and rode the trolley or chair lifts up the mountain. We all rode rides, watched shows and shoot-outs with the cowboys, and had a grand ole time. About 3:00 we packed up and left the park and headed off to the Bethel Retreat. AT the retreat center they served us a supper of pizza and salad. After that we had a devotion and sharing time where one child from each cottage shared a short testimony with the others. This was really a special time. We want to thank Bethel Retreat Group for such a wonderful gift of fun and sharing!
Western Area Makes A Big Splash!
07.10.2008
The Western Area children and staff members went to Dollywood's Splash Country yesterday and had a blast! They have added a new waterslide and the children, as well as adults, had a grand ole time slipping and a sliding! I heard that one child care worker from Haywood Mountain Home (not mentioning any names) got airborne on one of the water slides. The weather was very nice and everyone enjoyed the lazy rivers as they cooled down before the long trip home.
Southwest Resort Ministries Vists Broyhiill Home
07.03.2008
On July 1st, the Southwest Resort Ministries came to Broyhill Home for a very fun afternoon! This is a youth group from Roan, Georgia and it was made up mostly of middle schoolers. "Let the games begin" was the theme for the afternoon. There was volleyball, kickball and t-ball all going on at the same time. The children were able to decorate flip flops, get temporary tattoos and make bracelets. There was popcorn, snow cones and cotton candy for everyone. The group had put up a 30' water slide with palm trees and a water pool at the bottom (believe it or not it was cool in the mountains this afternoon and the children were a little too chilly to do much water sliding)! Music played loudly in the background during the afternoon games. After the games they fed children and staff members from Broyhill and Haywood Mountain Home a good meal of hamburgers and hot dogs. Everyone had a great time and we look forward to their next visit! Thank you very much Southwest Resort Ministies for a day of great fellowship and fun!
