Western Area Awards Banquet

03.24.2008

The Western Area held its annual Awards Banquet last evening. Staff members and children came from Broyhill, Haywood Mountain Home and Drake Cottage. It was a very special evening. When you walked into the gym the decorations took your breath away. The child care workers had outdone themselves in that area. Beautiful streamers of spring colors were put up throughout the gym, flowers and Easter Lilys were centered around the stage. A cross with a thorny crown was adorned at the front of the stage. Everyone gathered and a blessing was given. Then the meal began...then the program began...everyone was dressed in Sunday attire and looked "sharp as a tack." Children in care were given an achievement certificate listing everything they are involved in since being in care. There was much excitement going on. Special awards were given out and BCH president Dr. Blackwell was a special guest. He gave out the Leadership Award to two seniors. Dr. Blackwell also had a special announcement for Linda Morgan, BCH's Regional Director of Family Services, Western Area. March 21st was Linda's 35th year with Baptist Children's Homes. Dr. Blackwell recognized her with a special appreciation plaque and a special gift from the Broyhill Family Foundation who consider Linda "part of their family." In Linda's words she was "truly humbled, stunned, totally caught off guard, in a state of shock, brought to tears and tremendously blessed by the recognition." After the recognition from Dr. Blackwell, children came up to the stage and brought Linda roses and a scrapbook from each cottage. The audience sang "Linda Loves the Little Children" and it was a very special time. It was the best awards banquet ever! Congratulations to everyone who received awards and thank you to those who made it such a special evening. possible.

Easter Comes Early to Broyhill Home

03.17.2008

The Haywood County Board of Realtors came to the Broyhill Home campus on Sunday, March 16th for a fun-filled day! Haywood Mountain Home also joined the Broyhill campus for this special day. The Board of Realtors brought cupcakes and cookies for all of the children to decorate. They had a flag football game on the ballfield. The also provided an Easter egg hunt for the children with money and/or candy hiding in the eggs. They brought enough for each child to find 10 eggs. A magician was also there to provide magic and allowed the audience to participate. The children helped out with many of the magic tricks and everyone laughed and had a good time. Sub sandwiches and chips were served for lunch and then the group handed out gifts for each child. Everyone received a beach towel and toys for the beach trip this summer. Staff reported that this is a MOST AWESOME event! We would like to thank the Haywood County Board of Realtors for their support of Baptist Children's Homes!
