Western Area Annual Talent Show
02.18.2010
The annual Western Area Talent Show was held Tuesday evening on February 16, and what a show it was! First of all, we were very thankful that the snow held off and we were able to have a the event on the scheduled day. Only the children and staff of Truett Home were unable to come due to the weather. The night started off with everyone looking at displays from the children and staff. This included everything from cake decorating, drawings and paintings, sewing, puzzles and a lego display. Several staff members even showed that they have talent! We had Bill Wilkerson's woodworking display, Jenny McAlister's edible "flower" fruit display and replica of "God's Six Acre Plot" by Cal Grantham. On separate tables we displayed all of the Western Area's 125th anniversary tapestry squares. Everyone showed so much talent with these squares and we will be very proud when they are displayed on the full "Growing Hope Tapestry". Linda Morgan then led everyone in a prayer and the dinner began. We had a sloppy joe supper with baked beans, chips and drinks. When everyone finished we started the talent part of the night. Each cottage did a group skit or song routine followed by individuals who sang. Watch out Amercian Idol, we may be on the next show! We want to thank everyone who participated and invite those who did not to start thinking of what they can do next year to join in the fun. All I can say after last night is that the West is full of talent!
