Charlotte Business Man Receives Baptist Heritage
    Award

    May 01, 2007

Ward Mullis of Charlotte is a recipient of the 2007 North Carolina Baptist Heritage Award for his dedication and support to Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina (BCH). The award recognizes individuals and couples who represent exemplary giving and service to organizations associated with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. The award was presented to Mullis by BCH president Michael C. Blackwell at a ceremony on April 26 at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro.

“Receiving this high honor is very humbling,” Mullis said. “There is only one area that I know of wherein God has been absolutely unreasonable, and that is the matter in which he has blessed my life. My work with Baptist Children’s Homes rates very high on that list of blessings.”

Mullis is a longtime supporter of BCH’s ministry serving children and families and a member of Providence Church in Charlotte. He served on the institution’s Board of Trustees for a total of 15 years and as Board Chairman for two of those years. As President and Partner at Gibson-Smith Realty in Charlotte, Mullis has lent his experience to BCH’s Properties Committee. Last year, he and his wife Linda spearhead a new fund-raising initiative known as “Champions for Children,” a model which will be utilized to raise support and awareness for BCH’s statewide programs and services.

Mullis is married to his wife Linda. He has three children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Since 1885, Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina has helped children and families in crisis. BCH began with one campus, Mills Home in Thomasville, but now provides services in communities across the state.
