Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina proudly celebrates 125 years of ministry in 2010. On November 11, 1885, nine-year-old Mary Presson walked through the door of the Baptist Orphanage in Thomasville becoming the first child ever admitted into care. Today, Baptist Children's Homes' Christ-centered ministry offers hope and healing to children and families through service locations in 18 statewide communities. The prayers and generous support of Baptists have bolstered the mission of helping hurting children…healing broken families for well more than a century.
Help honor BCH's 125th anniversary, or “Quasquicentennial” by participating in the following commemorative projects…
Heritage Walk and Garden – In honor of Baptist Children's Homes' 125th anniversary, the Heritage Walk and Garden is being created at Mills Home in Thomasville where the ministry first began. Be a part of BCH's history by purchasing your personalized brick or bricks. Your brick, inscribed with your name and special message, will be permanently placed in the monuments' walkway. On September 8, 9, & 10, 2010, endurance cyclist and North Carolina Baptist Chris Boone will attempt the unimaginable and ride non-stop from Murphy to Manteo in less than 40 hours. Chris hopes his 564-mile journey across the state will raise as much as $500,000 in support for Baptist Children's Homes' boys and girls. You can help by becoming a RideNC2010 sponsor.
